Knowledge & Content Sync

The Knowledge page is your central hub for managing what content is synced to Intufind's cloud. This content forms the AI knowledge base that powers search, chat, and recommendations.

Navigate to Apps → Intufind → Knowledge in your Shopify admin.

Toggle Auto-sync to automatically sync product changes:

  • Create — New products sync automatically

Metaobjects

For stores using custom metaobjects, you can sync these as well.

Metaobjects tab

Accessing Metaobjects

Metaobject sync requires the read_metaobjects permission. If you see an "Access Required" message:

  1. The app may need to request additional permissions
  2. Contact support if you need this feature enabled

Selecting a Type

  1. Use the dropdown to select a metaobject type
  2. The table updates to show items of that type
  3. Sync controls work the same as other content types

How Sync Works

Understanding the sync process helps you manage your content effectively.

Sync Flow

  1. You enable sync — Toggle on for an item or click Sync All
  2. Data extracted — Product/page data is read from Shopify
  3. Sent to cloud — Data is transmitted to Intufind's servers
  4. AI processing — Content is indexed for search and chat
  5. Status updated — Item shows as "Synced" with timestamp

Auto-Sync (Products & Collections)

When auto-sync is enabled:

EventAction
Product createdAutomatically synced if sync toggle is on
Product updatedRe-synced with new data
Product deletedRemoved from cloud

Auto-sync uses Shopify webhooks for real-time updates.

Manual Sync (Pages & Blogs)

Pages and blog articles don't support webhook-based auto-sync. After making changes:

  1. Go to the appropriate tab
  2. Find the changed items
  3. Click Sync or use Sync All

Managing Sync Status

Status Indicators

StatusMeaning
SyncedContent is up to date in the cloud
Needs SyncContent has changed since last sync
ErrorSync failed (hover for details)
Not SyncedSync is disabled for this item

Bulk Selection

To sync or modify multiple items:

  1. Use the checkbox in the header to select all visible items
  2. Or check individual items
  3. Use the bulk action buttons that appear

Bulk selection

Pagination

Content is displayed 25 items per page. Use the pagination controls to navigate larger catalogs.

Searchable vs. Synced

Understanding the difference:

SettingPurpose
SyncWhether the item is sent to the cloud at all
SearchableWhether the item appears in search results

When to Use Each

  • Synced + Searchable — Normal products customers can find
  • Synced + Not Searchable — Products the AI knows about for chat context, but won't show in search (e.g., discontinued items you still want to discuss)
  • Not Synced — Completely excluded from AI (e.g., test products, internal items)

What's NOT Synced

Intufind only indexes publicly available content:

SyncedNot Synced
✓ Published products✗ Draft products
✓ Active collections✗ Unpublished collections
✓ Published pages✗ Hidden pages
✓ Published articles✗ Draft articles
✗ Customer data
✗ Orders
✗ Checkout data

Troubleshooting

Content not appearing in search

  1. Verify the item is synced (check status is "Synced")
  2. Ensure Searchable is enabled
  3. Confirm the item is published in Shopify
  4. Wait a few minutes for AI indexing to complete
  5. Check the Status page for connection issues

Sync errors

If items show error status:

  1. Hover over the error badge for details
  2. Common causes:
    • Network timeout (try again)
    • Invalid content (check for unusual characters)
    • Subscription limit reached
  3. Click Sync to retry

Missing content type

If a content type isn't appearing:

  1. Ensure you have content of that type in Shopify
  2. Check that the content is published
  3. For metaobjects, verify the permission was granted
