Product Recommendations
Replace WooCommerce's default related products, upsells, and cross-sells with AI-powered recommendations that understand semantic relationships between products.
Navigate to Intufind → Recommendations in your WordPress admin. This page only appears when WooCommerce is active.
Overview
WooCommerce's default recommendations are based on simple category matching. Intufind's AI recommendations understand the semantic meaning of your products to suggest truly relevant items.
Example: A customer viewing a tent might see recommendations for:
- Sleeping bags (complementary camping gear)
- Headlamps (commonly purchased together)
- Camping cookware (related outdoor equipment)
Even if these products aren't in the same category.
Requirements
Product Recommendations require:
- WooCommerce installed and active
- Valid Intufind connection
- Products synced to Intufind (check Knowledge page)
Recommendation Types
Intufind can replace three types of WooCommerce recommendations:
Related Products
Default: Off
Products shown in the "Related Products" section on product pages.

Configuration
Enable Recommendations
Toggle each recommendation type individually:

Maximum Recommendations
Default: 4 Range: 2-8

How AI Recommendations Work
- Product analysis — AI understands your entire catalog semantically
- Context awareness — Current product, page context, and cart contents
- Relevance scoring — Products ranked by semantic similarity and relationships
- Filtering — Out-of-stock and hidden products excluded
- Caching — Results cached for performance
Recommendation Quality
AI recommendations improve with:
- Descriptive product titles — Clear, specific names
- Detailed descriptions — Rich product information
- Complete attributes — Size, color, material, etc.
- Quality images — With descriptive alt text
Display
Recommendations appear in WooCommerce's standard locations using your theme's styling:

No theme modifications required — Intufind works with WooCommerce's hooks.
Customizing Appearance
To customize how recommendations look, modify your theme's WooCommerce templates as usual. Intufind only changes which products are shown, not how they're displayed.
Fallback Behavior
If AI recommendations fail (API error, no results), Intufind falls back to WooCommerce's default behavior automatically. This ensures recommendations always appear.
Performance
Recommendations are optimized for speed:
- Cached responses — Based on your cache duration setting
- Async loading — Non-blocking page render
- Batch queries — Single API call per page
Typical response time: 50-150ms (cached), 200-400ms (fresh).
Troubleshooting
Recommendations not showing
- Verify WooCommerce is active
- Check the recommendation type is enabled
- Ensure products are synced (Knowledge page)
- Check Status page for API errors
- Clear any page caching plugins
Same products always recommended
- Trigger a full product sync in Knowledge
- Check product descriptions are unique and descriptive
- Ensure you have enough products indexed (minimum ~20 for good variety)
Irrelevant recommendations
- Review and improve product descriptions
- Check category and attribute assignments
- Re-sync products after making changes
- Consider enabling more product attributes in Knowledge
Recommendations loading slowly
- Increase cache duration
- Reduce maximum recommendations count
- Check Status page for API latency
Analytics
Track recommendation performance in your Intufind Dashboard:
