API Key Setup
Your API key connects your WordPress site to Intufind's cloud services, enabling semantic search, AI chat assistant, and product recommendations.
Getting Your API Key
- Create an account at intufind.com
- Start your free trial or choose a plan
- Go to Dashboard → API Keys
- Click Create New Key and copy your API key
Your API key starts with itf_ and looks like: itf_live_abc123xyz...
Connecting Your Site
- Go to Intufind in your WordPress admin menu
- You'll land on the API Key tab
- Paste your API key into the API Key field
- Optionally check Automatically index content after connecting
- Click Save API Key
Auto-Sync on Connection
When you check "Automatically index content after connecting," Intufind will immediately begin indexing your public content. This creates the AI knowledge base that powers:
- Intelligent Search — Find content by meaning, not just keywords
- AI Chat — Answer visitor questions about your content
- Smart Recommendations — Suggest relevant products or posts
What Gets Indexed
Intufind takes a privacy-first approach and only indexes publicly available content:
| Indexed | Not Indexed |
|---|---|
| Published posts | Draft posts |
| Published pages | Private content |
| Products (WooCommerce) | User data |
| Categories & tags | Personal information |
| Custom post types (configurable) | Password-protected content |
You have full control over which content types are indexed via the Indexing tab.
Connection Status
After saving your API key, you'll see:
- ✓ Connected — Your API key is valid and all features are enabled
- ✗ Invalid API Key — Check your API key or subscription status
The status also shows your current plan (e.g., "Starter plan", "Pro plan").
Clearing Your API Key
To disconnect your site (e.g., to use a different API key):
- Go to Intufind → API Key
- Click Clear API Key
- Confirm the action
Clearing your API key disconnects from cloud services. Your indexed content will be retained for 30 days in case you reconnect.
Managing API Keys
You can manage all your API keys from your Intufind Dashboard:
- Create new keys for different sites
- Revoke keys that are no longer needed
- Label keys to identify which site uses which key
Best practice: Use a separate API key for each WordPress site.
